And of course I always want to share my favorite publisher:

Hay House Publications  – the international leader in inspirational and self-help publishing:HH Logo Header - Design

So much to share and so little time!

I am loving all the amazing webinars that I am listening to at the moment, mainly with a focus on the exciting field of epigenetics (more on that soon) along with health, nutrition and personal empowerment!

In fact I am spending so much time listening to all these online events that I have very little time for anything else at the moment! However my motto is ‘take it whilst you can get it’ and that’s exactly what I am doing whilst I have good internet access!

Oh and I am excited to share my new Sandsofchange Facebook page – please ‘Like’ and share it. Thank you!

My goal is to connect with like-minded souls on a global basis and share inspirational and transformational tools for change, both on a personal level and a global one.

There are still a couple of days left of the Future of Nutrition free online conference, which is fabulous. Why not take a look?

Future of Nutrition conference

What I have discovered through this conference and also through the recent Hay House ‘Start the New You’ online webinar is just how much ‘we are what we eat’. Of course that concept has been around for a very long time and most of us are acutely aware that the quality of the food we eat affects our health.

But the biggest lie we have been sold in the past 30+ years is that of the LOW FAT DIET. What exactly does low fat mean? MORE SUGAR! And, according to so many of the health practitioners, in both conferences, sugar calories are FAR worse for our health than FAT calories, provided we are looking at natural, healthy fats.

Did you know that sugar is 8 times as addictive as cocaine??? And the real demon is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, which is in so many of the processed manufactured foods in our supermarkets. Just look at the labels.

Check out what Dr. Mark Hyman (who was a participant in both webinars) has to say about this http://drhyman.com/blog/2013/11/11/never-eat-high-fructose-corn-syrup/

The disturbing part of all this is that the food industry is not only fully aware that they are causing this DIABESITY (obesity & diabetes) and contributing to the massive increase in easily preventable diseases, but they are fully supported by our governments! According to Dr. Joan Borysenko, whose book on ‘The Plant Plus Diet Solution’ will be published by Hay House later this year, between 2000 and 2010 the incidence of Alzheimers has increased by 70%! This is due to the ‘crap’ carbs that we are putting into our bodies.

The food manufacturers are fully aware of just how addictive sugar is and they create foods that hook us in. Just think of the advertising – for example, Lays Potato Chips – ‘betcha can’t eat just one’. Of course you can’t, because they have created an addiction in you and will power is only able to deal with it for so long…..

So don’t beat yourself up about your cravings. Be aware of them and GET MAD!

How DARE they and how DARE our governments allow this?
Do you really want your hard earned taxes to go on attempting to cure all these diseases and obesity? Do you really want to live a longer life if it means years of ill health?

If your answer is a resounding NO, then VOTE with your dollar and don’t buy this stuff. There are plenty of alternative, healthy and TASTY substitutes, which will not lead to these illnesses and obesity (which I will be sharing in the coming weeks as I explore them myself :) ).

Yes, I know, you’ve heard it all before and NO I am most definitely not perfect, but whilst ever we (and I include myself in this) do not make healthy choices, we are supporting the food companies who are not only massively contributing to our ill health, but to our children’s ill health and future generations. We are entering a crisis era, as we Baby Boomers begin to retire and the funds in the welfare kitty will not be able to support all the health care that will be required. So maybe it is worth giving it some thought and taking responsibility for your health and wellbeing now BEFORE you get sick.

Something to think about…..

The Biological Weight Loss Trap Webinar

Resolutions, Dieting and the Future of Nutrition!

WOW, just WOW!

What an amazing week of listening to the Hay House ‘Start the New You now’ webinar. And what a treat to have good enough internet to be able to do so!!! We are now in the US Virgin Islands and using a 4G modem, which enabled me to listen to the whole week’s webinar onboard the boat – isn’t technology amazing!!!

I learnt so much and with the focus being on resolutions many of the conversations were about dieting, as this is just about the most common resolution that people make on January 1st each year. Often within the month, the diet has gone by the wayside and the resolution is broken…..

Why is this?

It is a well known fact that when most people lose weight, not only do they put it all back on after their diet, but more besides. Many of the conversations addressed this including Jon Gabriel, who created The Gabriel Method and is well known for losing over 100kg naturally without dieting, and Jessica Ortner of The Tapping Solution who uses EFT Tapping to help her clients lose weight and keep it off.

Interestingly I wasn’t going to listen to either of these discussions because I have lost over 10 kgs myself this past year, the first 5 I actually lost without dieting! Then I came across The Fast Diet and decided to incorporate the principles into my lifestyle, as it didn’t involve too much of a change, simply ‘fasting’ on 2 days a week. By doing so I lost the extra kilos so I didn’t think I needed to listen to either Jon Gabriel or Jessica Ortner, however I am glad I did, because both conversations cemented my belief in the power of the mind and of course that brings us back to the founder of Hay House herself, Louise Hay.

Back in 1976 when Louise Hay introduced positive affirmations through her little pamphlet ‘Heal Your Body’ people thought she was kooky (in her own words!), however that book was the start of something enormous for Louise, incredible healing for thousands of people all around the world and has led to Hay House being the finest and biggest publisher of self-empowerment books in the world.

But even more exciting is the latest research by Dr Mona Lisa Schultz (MD. PhD), which scientifically validates that affirmations do actually work! Dr Mona Lisa has teemed up with Louise Hay to produce a book called ‘All is Well: Heal Your Body with Medicine, Affirmations and Intuition’.

I will be sharing more from this wonderful webinar over the next few weeks, including more about how EFT Tapping has been helping some of the people affected by the Sandy Hook school shooting in December 2012 and also how Roz Savage managed her mindset when she became the first woman to row across the Atlantic!

However I am also excited to let you know about another upcoming webinar next week ‘The Future of Nutrition Conference‘, hosted by The Institute for the Psychology of Eating.

From January 27-31, 2014, this incredible event features compelling new insights and diverse approaches to what the future holds when it comes to nutrition and personal transformation.

Experts including Dr. Mark Hyman, David Wolfe, Dr. Sara Gottfried, Dr. Michael Greger, Sally Fallon-Morell, Daniel Vitalis, Dr Michael Murray, Joe Cross, Sayer Ji, Dr. David Perlmutter, Dr. Jacob Lieberman, and many more will be sharing key insights into our nutritional destiny.

If you’re interested in fresh ideas and a cutting edge approach to food and health, then join me for this one-of-a-kind virtual conference. It’s going to be an information rich educational adventure!

P.S. Just a quick note – in my earlier blog post Making The Commitment I mentioned that blogging would be high on my agenda for January! Whilst I haven’t blogged as much as I intended, the reason is that the Hay House webinar took up a lot of my time, however this has only provided me with so much more exciting information to share with you in the coming weeks! Stay tuned

I LOVE Hay House Publications, as there are so many incredible and diverse contributors, but what unites them all is their passion and commitment to their own unique path. Each one of us has our very own story, which has brought us to where we are today.

What is YOUR story and how will you share your uniqueness with the world?

I know that, for me, I never fail to find inspiration when I listen in to these webinars so I invite you to join me in registering for the latest FREE online webinar, which is starting THIS SATURDAY 11th January!

Making the Commitment!

One of the ways I am learning to stay on track with my resolutions, goals, commitments – call them what you will – is to follow the 30 Day Challenge concept.

Sometime last year I watched a wonderful TED video Matt Cutts talking about trying something new for 30 days. By the way check out the TED talks, if you haven’t already – there are so many amazing, inspirational videos & the beauty is that you can download most of them, which is perfect for me with my inconsistent internet access. Love it!!

I began my own 30 Day Challenge in July and read a selection of the ebooks I had downloaded from the internet, which had been stored on my computer for that ‘when I get around to it’ day! So it was time to get around to it & I managed to get through at least 4 of them. Yay!

In August I worked through a Travel Writing Course which I had purchased some time ago and once again I hadn’t yet completed! But now I have :)

Believe me, it does feel great to just commit and DO it!

In September I spent every day listening to some of the amazing interviews from the online Hay House World Summit that I had attended in June*. I didn’t have much time to listen at that time as I was back in UK visiting my mum for her birthday, so I decided to purchase the course for a later date. I’m SO glad I did, as those daily Hay House interviews through September were the perfect way to start my day! I also shared a number of them with a dear friend on another yacht who I had met earlier in the year in St. Croix and who was now anchored right by us in Grenada!

My October challenge went by the wayside when that dear friend and her partner were viciously attacked at anchor by some youths in one of the stunning Grenadine islands of St. Vincent, just north of Grenada. What I did learn in October however was just how incredible a woman’s spirit can be. After Tina’s attack, she rallied the yachting community and set up a forum (attended by close to 200 people) to discuss ways to improve our safety onboard.

In November I came across the NaNoWriMo challenge, which was to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days! Well, I did manage to spew out 50,000 words in the time frame, although I wouldn’t exactly call it a novel, but the point is that I DID it! One of my challenges this year will be to coordinate those words into a set of children’s books – stay tuned…. :)

In December I set myself a couple of challenges, one was the Planking challenge. I did follow the challenge, however I didn’t manage the full number of seconds once I got past the 2 minute mark, but rather than give up I just did the best I could (my best being 177 seconds!). My second December challenge was to work through a daily Tapping exercise to de-clutter my life – and more to the point, my mind! In case you haven’t come across EFT Tapping – I hadn’t until a year ago – it is a technique which uses acupressure points to improve your emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Apart from producing phenomenal results for day-to-day issues, it has been used successfully by The Tapping Solution team to work with survivors and family of the Sandy Hook Primary School shootings in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012 and also survivors of the Rwanda genocide, in Africa.

So, there you have it, my last 6 months of 30 Day Challenges and can you guess what my January 2014 challenge is? Yes, more blog posts – just DO it!

I hope you are finding some inspiration from my website, this one and our more travel oriented blog www.amarulasail.com and I look forward to meeting you online or via my Facebook pages Lynne Dorning Sands and Amarula Sail.

What Changes are in Store for you in 2014?

2013 has come and gone. Did I achieve everything I hoped to?
No, not at all…. however I could beat myself up or I could move on….
It is a choice we all have and I have to admit that, until now, I have generally ‘chosen’ to remain stuck in the past, wallowing in certain pain that I felt justified to feel.

It is almost a year since I set up this website, with a focus on CHANGE!

My aim was to create the changes in my life that I wanted to see and thereby help others to see that change IS possible. I would get a spark of confidence and lots of amazing ideas flying around in my head, but as soon as I sat down to write they flew away and the negativity and self-doubt barged back in!

2013 was a cathartic year for me in many ways. I joined an online support network* to work through a great deal of buried pain surrounding my childlessness. I thought I was ‘over it’ but once I joined this group I realized that, for the most part, I had just pushed it deep, deep down, where I thought it could no longer hurt me. The sharing within the group made me intimately aware of my unrequited grief and just how much power I was giving to the pain I was feeling. I was using it as an excuse NOT to move forward and make the changes in my life, which would serve me better and allow me to accept exactly where I am right now, in this very moment, and appreciate it wholeheartedly.

Without that acceptance and appreciation, it is almost impossible to function in a healthy, positive way. As a consequence I held back from writing blog posts on this website and also shied away from many social networking situations. Thus the self-fulfilling prophecy or, as it is called in ‘The Secret’ amongst other books, the Law of Attraction, was working exactly how it was meant to. Despite reaching out from time to time and baring my soul, I often received no acknowledgement or no response, thus building my case against my self, that I really do have no confidence, I really am NO GOOD, I am not worthy, etc etc etc & blah blah blah! What I ignored were the wonderful responses and connections that I did have. I was so busy focusing on the ones I didn’t have, SO 2014 I am on a mission to CHANGE my whole mindset and focus on the positive and the here and now.

I welcome you to join with me on this path and look forward to meeting & sharing with you.

* For those women, who remain Childless NOT by choice, I am sure you will find incredible love and support within the amazing group of women that Jody Day has brought together from around the world in her Gateway Women community.

Finally, I would like to share the following 2 amazing sources for inspirational products & webinars, which can help you to achieve the changes you are looking for.

The Tapping Solution:

Focusing on the positive and creating an impact

Teddy Stoddard story
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2MLDW6Uh-E narrated by Wayne Dyer

Recently saw this again on Facebook & whether it is an urban myth or not it is still a beautiful story which illustrates just how little time we really take to pay attention to, and value each other.

In a similar vein to that of my previous post it focuses on teachers and just how much influence we can have on our students’ lives. I can recall numerous times when I was teaching, which made me truly appreciate my role and the positive impact I had. Times which were immensely satisfying and, at times, profoundly humbling, but always a gift.

Find and celebrate the positive in everyone you meet. You have no idea of their ‘story’…..

In the absence of love……

The other day I came across this article http://acestoohigh.com/2012/04/23/lincoln-high-school-in-walla-walla-wa-tries-new-approach-to-school-discipline-expulsions-drop-85/ and it filled me with joy to learn that some schools are seeing the light!

When will we ever realise that what we are doing as a society is not working? And we must start with the children if we want to make profound and lasting change.

I am back in England at the moment and I see that, once again, the powers that be, are fiddling around making changes to the education system. How about making fundamental changes to the way we view each other and work with each other at the earliest stages?

I wonder when or even if we will ever learn that punishment is already too late and that prevention, combined with compassion after the event, do actually work. This does not condone inappropriate behaviour but teaches children that they do have choices in life. They can choose how they react and respond in certain situations. We ALL can and the younger we start the better. By providing this support and nurturing in schools, particularly if it is absent in the home could well lead to a happier, healthier, more connected world…. hmmm, something to think about?

When I was teaching, many years ago, I had 3 rules in my classroom and everything in life falls into these 3 categories:

1. Respect Yourself

2. Respect Others

3. Respect Property/ the environment

Simple…. this went on my classroom wall, whether I was teaching 3 year olds or 12 year olds and any incident could be dealt with by identifying which rule & how it was being broken.

So much of what we hear in the media is negative and our focus in society is on punishment rather than love and compassion; on cure as opposed to prevention in all forms of healing, be it body, mind or spirit.

In the absence of love….. what do we find?

FREE Online Hay House World Summit 1st – 10th June 2013!

Gosh, I have been so slack about blogging on this website, not to say I haven’t been busy with Tapping, just that we have been sailing back down to Grenada ready for me to fly to UK next week to celebrate my mum’s birthday with her on 1st June.

Our communications have been slow & often non-existent – a bit like the sailing we did from British Virgin Islands to the Grenadines! Add to this that we then lost our dinghy whilst in Bequia in the Grenadines just over a week ago, so we have been in damage-control mode… However I am happy to report that we now have a good, second hand, replacement dinghy & should have a new outboard motor in the next day or so. Luckily we had friends around who helped us get ashore in their dinghies & we were very grateful for our kayaks too!

Meanwhile, I am really excited about the upcoming Hay House World Summit in a couple of weeks time. This is a FREE Online Event like the Tapping World Summit that I attended in February. Personally I find events like this really inspirational and I am excited to be sharing this with you.

I LOVE the work of Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer & so many of the amazing presenters in this program, so I am really looking forward to listening in next month.

This event is free, however it is possible to purchase the audios and transcripts to browse at your leisure any time after the event. Please consider registering via my affiliate link below and browsing the Hay House website for many other inspirational books, courses and events. Thank you so much x
